Story behind the song
This song has so much history, and it's been involved on so many of my albums with different renditions. I guess you can call it the essential Troy song. I wrote the lyrics to this song in the summer of 1985 after my first girlfriend and I broke up, and it was the very first song I ever wrote lyrically. It wasn't until 1991 when I was composing my very first song on the keyboard (which was meant to be a Christmas Instrumental) when I realized the lyrics and music fit perfectly.
The first rendition of this song was recorded in 1991 with Doodle on lead vocals, then again in 1992 with myself on lead vocals which would be included on my "Raw Tracks" album in 2002, and finally in 2003 as an updated version with Doodle once again on lead vocals. We took that version and included it on the 2004 album "Journey By Rail", then in 2007 I remixed and updated the song featuring and added orchestration by Doodle which was included on my "Full Steam Ahead" compilation album.
On January 13th, 2015, "No More Love" was introduced as the very first digital single on my website.
I guess it's safe to say this is still my all-time favorite song that I ever wrote.
Lyrics
Lyrics written in the Summer of 1985; Music written in 1991
(1st verse)
So Now it's over, I can't believe it's true,
you feel no love for me, though I still feel love for you.
It may sound crazy, but I'll never forget,
the time I fell in love with you, the first day that we met.
*(Chorus)
No more love, no more love.
I can't believe our love has slipped away,
time after time, day by night after day.
No more love, no more love.
(2nd verse)
Is this goodbye or just so long?
Do you still think what we had was really that wrong?
Start a new beginning, cause this is our end.
Is their any possible way that we could still be friends? *
(Bridge)
Take me back in your arms just one more night.
I don't mean any harm, everything will be alright.
Let me show you my love from deep in my heart.
You are all that I think of, don't let us fall apart.
(3rd verse)
So no more sad tears or happy ones too,
if I had my way, you'd let me come back to you.
Had to may chances, this one's the very last.
Your love is in my heart, the present and the past. *
Dedicated to Maureen Ford - Summer 1985
