Story behind the song
In the summer of 1992, Chuck and I thought about recording our first ballad. I had just written the lyrics comparing words to bullets, and how each can cause severe damage. Once you say something, just like shooting bullets, it's not gonna care, the damage is done. So be careful what you say, cause once it's said, it can't be unsaid. It's a deep message, but I think our ballad conveyed it well.
Lyrics
Lyrics and Music written in July 1992
(1st Verse)
Go ahead and pull the trigger, you're gonna shoot me down anyway,
all the problems keep getting bigger, no matter what I do or say.
It doesn't matter what you think, you got your target and I'm the goal,
put a hole in me, watch me sink, for you'll have drown my heart and soul.
*(Chorus)
Bullets don't care (4x)
(2nd Verse)
Love is strong just like a bridge, it holds you up so you won't fall,
but if you go and do the damage, then it will no longer stand tall.
Shoot it down, down to the ground, it will destroy so far down below,
and when it's gone, look around, there'll be nothing left here to show. *
