Story behind the song
I was once faced with this existential issue when my grandfather offered me to pay my rent for two months if I agreed to cut my hair within one inch of my head. It was a valuable life lesson.
Lyrics
Back when I was younger
I had long, curly hair
The band broke up
We weren't getting anywhere
I had some bills to pay
Went to the barber shop
My rockin days were over
When I got that chop chop
CHORUS
How am I gonna rock
With the wrong kind of hair
How am I gonna rock
With my head so bare
How am I gonna rock
I'm feeling despair
How am I gonna rock
With the wrong kind of hair
So now I sit all day
In a cubicle chair
I had to sell my axe
Now I just play air
I still wanna rock
I wanna scratch that itch
I went and got a Strat
And then got me a wig.
CHORUS
I got a new band
And, man, we rocked
Then at our first gig
My wig fell off.
The place got real quiet
You could hear a pin drop.
I lit that wig on fire
And continued to rock
CHORUS 2
This is how I rock
With the wrong kind of hair
This is how I rock
With my head so bare
This is how I rock
I'm gonna declare
This is how I rock
With the wrong kind of hair.
