So sad that we have learned to hate one another. This song is about our country, but the words fit any dysfunctional relationship that is nearing the end.
Kevin Green Christian music.
Story behind the song
January 7th, I sat in my car and cried while watching the sunset. And I knew that personal responsibility has to be addressed, so I wrote this song.
Lyrics
Feeling like a lonely child, tangled in despair
Wish that I could run away, but I just dont know where
Took a drive out to the coast, stared out across the sea
Its time that I just face reality
I blame you and you blame me
But were both the guilty ones
Were not the saints we claim to be
And were coming all undone
Im afraid were lost beyond
The place we may be found
Watching the sun go down on America
Gods my favorite artist, finger paintings in the sky
But all we paint is chaos, cause were painting with our pride
My shadows getting longer as I watch the setting sun
And I cant help but wonder what weve done
But I will think the worst of you
while I think the best of me
And you know I want the truth
as long as I agree
I'm afraid were lost beyond
The place we may be found
Watching the sun go down on America
Watching the sun go down
Watching the sun go down
Every kingdom thats divided is destined for a fall
Weve bitten and devoured each other, till theres nothing left at all
But God can take this mess weve made and make it new again
But were gonna have to give it back to Him
I blame you and you blame me
But were both the guilty ones
Were not the saints we claim to be
And were coming all undone
Though we may be lost
We better pray we may be found
Watching the sun go down.
