Kansas songwriter Steve Cowell presents his unique styles of pop/rock music and intelligent lyrics.
Hi, I'm Steve Cowell. I'm the leader of the group and I write all the words and music. I also play all the instruments and sing everything, which gets lonely at times, but at least there are few ego clashes and I get along pretty well with the other guys in the band most of the time. We all grew up together and have been playing music together since childhood.

Story behind the song
I finally decided to write a song about my ex. The words just fell together, and the music just plain fun to write and arrange.
Lyrics
YOU THRIVE ON CONFLICT Copyright 2004 Steve Cowell Every morning it’s the same old thing The wrong side of the bed If you’re not happy, then no one’s happy You just got it in your head You stomp and slam You bitch and moan You hate the world You hate your home You never smile You stare in space Your anger shows All over your face Chorus: You thrive on conflict But it eats you up inside And it keeps you up at night You thrive on conflict And you just won’t let it die There’s a dark cloud hanging over you It’s everywhere you go You look for trouble, and if you can’t find it You make some of your own You fuss and cuss You whine and cry You make demands You start a fight You lie and cheat You have no friends And every day It starts all over again REPEAT CHORUS Bridge: You’re like a child, so immature So sure you’re right, yet insecure Whenever you don’t get your way You make sure everybody pays REPEAT CHORUS TWICE
