Steve left behind a sheaf of lyrics and a laptop full of unrelated and mostly incomplete musical noodles. This is my attempt to stitch the two together. RIP
My Long time friend and musical collaborator died last November after a long struggle against cancer. He left behind a sheaf of lyrics and a laptop full of unrelated and mostly incomplete musical noodles. This is my attempt to stitch the two together... I had fun doing it, I hope you enjoy the results.... Martin Stirrup July 2020

Story behind the song
No matching noodle for lyric, but a pop/folk noodle that fitted with a bit of tweaking
Lyrics
You are so busy keeping to the middle of the road That people never search to see you on the side And staggering beneath your extraordinary load Youll curse and say this is the very final ride A cliché ridden almanac is always by your side To help you out when words are hard to find And people saying stay here its a happy place to die Are shifting in their promises but cannot see your mind Chorus You travel like an autumn leaf you never need a home, Just a roof above, a floor beneath and your coloured telephone You scramble through existence like a dog after a bone Another fix of caffeine and your coloured telephone (MS) Youre independent you cant be discovered anywhere Turn on the sun, surround yourself with light The shell could still be flimsy if you meet someone who cares They cannot stop you moving but can set you to the right Fade out repeat You and your coloured telephone C GAm FC GAm C GAm F DF GAmBbG GAmBbG
