Story behind the song
I started writing it about a girl, and wound up getting alot deeper and singing to God. This is one of few religious songs I wrote.
Lyrics
So lay me down to sleep in dreams in a feild of green; I float above your head, and you can't see a thing, but your stairs at your starts in your velvet sky. Lay me down to sleep again as your silently leaving. So lay me down to sleep in bliss in your dream again, and may I walk with confidence when this life comes to an end. Please don't fade away from me 'cause I need your life to see the life laid in front of me. So lay me down to sleep when I am older than the hills I'm crying in these days cause my pain won't go away. I've been so young, so sad and I'm losing my reason, 'cause inside I've given up for a feeling for my six string dreaming. So lay me down to sleep my God, just for one more restless night; make the sounds of deamons stop screaming for a former fight. Just take my heart to a safer place to fall, 'cause when I wake I realize I ain't safe here at all. So lay me down to sleep my God, I am praying for your words to reach my brow I am waiting. Please don't fade away from me, 'cause I need your life to see the life laid in front of me. Life I'll leave silently down.
