The Captain of The Saint Pierre (Studio Version)
A ship that picks up drowning people....
Kevin Green Christian music.
Lyrics
It was such a peculiar ship
I kept my distance as I swam the open sea
Through the years my endurance began to slip
The waves grew high, and the crew called out to me
Though I knew I was going down, I pretended not to care
Til I woke up at the nail scarred feet of the Captain of the Saint Pierre
The crew I met took me by surprise
Former blind and lame as far as I could tell
though the Spirit of the Captain was in their eyes
Others strutted as if they'd saved themselves
And some were still dipping into the sea, fingers pointed everywhere
And I swear that I saw tears in the eyes of the Captain of the Saint Pierre
Turned out I was one of the blind
But now I could see like I never saw before
Now seeing the foe that I'd left behind
It occurred to me we were fighting in a war
Fighting for those in the water who couldn't find their way
A battle won if we kept our eyes on the Captain everyday
But no one seemed to call to the bridge anymore
Committees were formed to tell us what He'd say
Pleasure took precedence over the war
The ship was blown by the wind and lost its way
And everyday more people drowned, but we sailed without a care
While the oars and the nets lie dead on the deck for the Captain of the Saint Pierre
There will come a blessed day
When the Saint Pierre will turn and head for the shore
And all us sinners met on the way
Going home to peace forever more
But I'll always wonder about those under the sea
How many people didn't board the Saint Pierre because of me?
Through my life and all that has happened
I've learned I need a Savior by my side
I give my life to the Captain
