Story behind the song

"Slam Dunk" was originally written when I was the band director for the John C. Fremont High School Band in Los Angeles as a high-spirited and fun selection for the students to enjoy. It became an instant hit with the band members and the student body.

After recording "Slam Dunk", it also an instant hit with the smooth jazz radio DJ's around the world.

I am dedicating "Slam Dunk" to the Los Angeles Lakers and my deceased friend Gary Newkam.
