Dust-Bowl vibe Americana
dust bowl migrant mother
Artist picture
Hopefully intelligent, upbeat, pop rock - plus multiple other genres and rabbit holes I enter
The band is ME - plus any collaborators I can convince to come along for the ride. I love the process of song writing and production - I hope some others get some enjoyments - or chuckles out of these tunes.

Story behind the song
Inspired by this photo, called "Migrant Mother," taken in 1936 by photographer Dorothea Lange. Florence Thompson was a widowed migrant worker and mother of seven children when the photo was taken. The photograph of her lined and weary face, with two of her hungry children resting on her shoulders, is perhaps the most iconic image of the Great Depression era.
Lyrics
DUST Words & Music by Joan Kennedy and Ron Tintner ©2019 V One in the oven, one on your lap Crying like a fire alarm Two in the field, two on the pallet One hanging off of each arm V Rain cloud blowing right on past Wind blowing hot and dry Your breath blowing tired and slow Dust blowing into your eyes CHORUS: Dust in your eyes, dust in your mouth Dust in the cracks of your skin Dust in the water, dust in the food Dust in the bottle of your old man’s gin V And the baby wakes up choking And he’s peed right through his clothes Staring straight ahead you clear The dust from his mouth and his nose CHORUS BRIDGE: Nothing but dust, nothing to see Nowhere to go, nowhere to be V Your man’s late getting back from town And you wonder if he’s all right ‘Til you finally feel him stumble down Beside you in the night CHORUS
