Story behind the song
Song idea came from a very good friend of mine many, many years ago, Marguerite Carpenter who passed away in 2015 before the song was completed.
Lyrics
MY FRONT DOOR By Patricia Bishop, Jesse Navarro and Marguerite Carpenter (2018) V1 Whenever I was hurting one thing I knew for sure I only had to call her, she’d be there at my front door Listened all night long to my same old sorry song About another woman who’d gone and done me wrong Chorus Oh, I called …. her I called her so many times I called ….her, I called her rain or shine Like all the times before She’d be there at my front door When I called…. her V2 We were friends for many years, she read me like a book She’d smile and nod her head with that “I know” look Sometimes she’d grin and tease “I know just what you need” “You need a loving woman, a woman like me” Chorus Oh, I called …..her I called her so many times I called ….her; I called her rain or shine Like all the times before She’d be there at my front door When I called…. her Bridge I never learned to read between the lines I never asked what her heart might need I never asked, I never learned Now the pages have been turned Out Chorus I called …. her I called her so many times I called …. her, I called her rain or shine But now she doesn’t come around anymore To my front door when I call ….her But now she doesn’t come around anymore To my front door… when I call …..her
