Cathy Wetzel, originally from Littleton, Colorado, moved to Iowa in 1975. She was in a local band called CaFaye for 12 years with her husband Jerry, which is where she met Gregory who was their bass player and best man at their wedding. She has written many songs over the years that reflect the trials and successes of her life, which she has woven into a musical play and hopes to record it. She is currently in the band Rose ‘N Thorns that plays in the Quad Cities. Gregory Payton- I've been a Musician since my early teenage years. I started out wanting to be a guitar player and that was the first instrument that I owned. I switched to the bass after some friends and I wanted to put a band together and there was no one to play bass. My father was a well known musician in the area and had a band called the "Dukes of Rhythm" and the bass player had an old bass he wasn't using and gave it to me. So, that was the start of my musical career.

Story behind the song
When the unexpected occurs in life, it can throw you off balance, and you can feel like you have fallen into a black hole. I wrote this song a long time ago during a period of prolonged sadness. In science, once something falls into a black hole, it is theorized that there is no escape – ever. However, there is a theory called Hawking Radiation where Stephen Hawking theorized that a little tiny bit of energy can escape from the black hole and the more energy that escapes, the more the black hole will shrink and eventually disappear. Therefore, nothing is totally black.
Lyrics
Here in the dark all the colors are the same No reds no blues, there’s no yellow to keep me sane Black walls black door, black ceiling overhead I’d give my soul just to see some white again That’s the color of the world in an ordinary life When the window disappeared and blocked the light As the story begins, light flickers on the screen Bright greens and golds, all the color that you need Blue is the sky, white as the clouds appear, gray with the rain, Black as the sun disappears That’s the color of the world in an ordinary life When the window disappeared and blocked the light Black hole, an extremely dense celestial body That is theorized to exist in the universe The gravitational field of a black hole is so strong That if the body is large enough nothing, including electromagnetic radiation Can escape from its vicinity The body is surrounded by a sphere called a horizon through which light Can enter but not escape It therefore appears to be totally black Here in the dark all the colors are the same No reds no blues, there’s no yellow to keep me sane Black walls black door, black ceiling overhead I’d give my soul just to see some white again
