Introducing the greatest talent ever to emerge from the orange bedroom at my parents house. I play guitar like.... well, like a guy playing guitar. I tickle ivories. I twiddle on the computer. I sometimes enjoy beans on toast for breakfast. And in the cracks between the eating, sleeping, laughing, crying, working, breathing experience that is my life there sometimes slips out songs like these.

Story behind the song
As I was preparing to lead a youth meeting that focused on self-worth, the chorus of this song started to appear in my thoughts. Enlarged on that thought, and a song was born. Been able to use it at a number of occasions since that time.... worship services as well as special events. This particular recording was at a "Treasury Magazine Top 10 Hymns festival" held at Wrexham Trinity Church in the U.K. Designed to add a smile to the occasion!
Lyrics
Be Thankful for what you’ve got ( Adrian J Pratt) People always trying to be, something that they’re not People never satisfied with what they’ve got, Young people act like grown-ups, grown-ups search for youth. But there’s no way you can change your age and that’s the truth! It ain’t no good being a bird, If you’re afraid of heights, It’s no good being a glow-worm, If you don’t shed no light, It’s useless pretending, That you’re something that you’re not, God has made you, you, So be thankful for what you’ve got. Um-hum, Uh-huh. Can a leopard change its spots to stripes? Can a blackbird make his feathers turn white? Could a rhinoceros suddenly start to meow? Or a chicken make noises like a cow? It ain’t no good being a bird, If you’re afraid of heights, It’s no good being a glow-worm, If you don’t shed no light, It’s useless pretending, That you’re something that you’re not, God has made you, you, So be thankful for what you’ve got. Um-hum, Uh-huh. Take a lesson from the flowers, they never complain, Bloom for a season then go back to earth again. Maybe you’re not the prettiest person on the earth. But if you face the world with a smile, you’ll prove your worth. So, let’s have no self-pity - It’s such a waste of time, If you’re feeling down and out - listen to this next line, In God’s eyes you are beautiful. He made you as you are. In God’s eyes you are beautiful, shining like a star! It ain’t no good being a bird, If you’re afraid of heights, It’s no good being a glow-worm, If you don’t shed no light, It’s useless pretending, That you’re something that you’re not, God has made you, you, So be thankful for what you’ve got. Um-hum, Uh-huh.
