There’s a pain in my heart
Or at least where there once was a heart
It’s an endless pain given to burden me
But what it doesn’t control is what I see
My eyes are wide open to the brazen sky
No one will make me mistake my pride for vanity
There is a place deep down inside
Where my little heart just likes to hide
Way beyond the wild blue expanse
Is a home where hearts all dance
Is a space where love can rest
Is a place we know the best
Out here the stars zigzag across miles
Betraying, erasing, tracing all sense of smile
Deep within where the banshees cry
I feel my heart in pain and I don’t know why
What it was I did wrong I am so sorry
Why does it hasten me toward my death
I hope that long before I draw my last breath
I will see the truth and it will heal me
I know my soul roams happy and free
Unconcerned with the pain inside me
I trust my heart can withstand the pain
I fear soon I will meet my end
I do anticipate I will scream
When it nears I will come clean
I will erase the pain I had from the start
I will die forgiven with a brand new heart
Meanwhile I look to heal my heart
I have heard it said it’s a dying art
Towards my closure I’ve had lots of practice
