Story behind the song
This started as a simple picked guitar piece but grew into an atmospheric brew with extra guitar from Steve Franks and sax from Jon Garvey. It then became the centrepiece for a concept album of songs about relationships in various stages.
Lyrics
AOS 08 Age old story (capot 3 so Cm…Fm G) Am Am Rain ripping through sultry evening air Am Thoughts slipping from the one who isn't there Am Rough linen on soft velvet skin Am Resolve is thinning temptation rushes in Salt tang to the moisture on your lip Bells clang as you feel your future flip Soft touch of a finger on your hand Says so much that your body understand Dm How did it come to this? Am How did things ever get this far Dm How did it come to this? E E7 You're just the latest star Am In an age old story Recline resolution at a loss Red lines can be easily slipped across Past roles dissipate and run Two souls merging into one
