On Broadway ... instrumental option#1

This is more or less a straight ahead 'cover' of the great song by The Drifters, from the early 1960s. (1963?) I've played the melody on my Eastwood Astroluxe Cadet guitar, over a nice wobbly, tremolo rhythm guitar led backing track.

Major Snagg is the invented name of the 'band' that perform all my own musical creations. (songs and instrumentals). I play guitars, bass, rudimentary keyboards, harmonica, and sing. Melody has always been important to me... lyrics and guitar solos have to say or communicate something. I create musical worlds that I hope that you dear listener, will also want to explore and live in for a few moments...or longer if you feel that way inclined.

Story behind the song
Previously I'd been playing around with the tremolo effect on my old Line 6 Pod (2.0) and when I came to create the backing track for this song, this wonderful tremolo sound was still programmed in when I powered up the unit again. So, I thought, "Hey, maybe this will work for the rhythm guitar for 'On Broadway'. Well, it did. A happy accident perhaps...or was it meant to be?

One of my favorites. Like all versions and now I like yours. You have done a very nice job on it. Guitars sounding really good. oh and I am partial to Eric Carmen's version of this no surprise there I guess. LOL

Loved this when it was done by George Benson I think it was one of his first vocals outstanding capturing the feeling Tim

I agree with Rodz, this version has a bit more "edge" to my ears and I like the "bite" on the guitar tone, especially on the low notes. Nice!

Another great version of the Drifters hit. This one feels even more "retro" and the tone works brilliantly. I think I like this one slightly more than the "Strat" version...but it's a very closely run thing! Excellent playing.
