Where Are All the People?

The title and the music came together for this song. 'Where are all the people?' comes from the time one Sunday in Portland, OR, when almost all the churches seemed to cancel services. The snow and ice was considered dangerous for driving.

I write my own songs ;) I have a very diverse taste in music, from Pop to Classical, including Rock, Folk, Jazz, Country, World Music (Celtic, Romanian), Old Timey Stringband/Bluegrass, and Latin. All these styles are in my Christian Contemporary catagory. I usually write the music first, and then put words to the music. Though I don't sing good enough yet, I though I would put my instrumentals out along with my music. Generally, I think my music/lyrics are getting better, being more skilled now than when I started.

Story behind the song
The snow of 2017 in Portland: Church is cancelled. For those churches that were tech savvy, streaming video feeds helped replace the usual in-person worship. Some were just music and teaching/preaching from the sanctuary. Other video feeds ingeniously left the church building and visited the pastor's home, with fireplace ablaze, his young daughter reading the bible verse, and the dog making a cameo appearance. Portland is not like Detroit, Chicago or other cities that take snow and ice for granted. This winter was more snow than usual. Seattle sent its snow plows down to help out, there was so much work to do. The next Sunday was back to the normal way of doing things.
Lyrics
Where Are All the People? Where are all the people? Where are those of faith? (A) snowstorm came and changed the world So) they are home and safe Worship in your jammies YouTube on flat screen Cast your cares and cast your feed For) One who is unseen (The) roads are slick and icy (The) word sits by a fire Come and hear God holding court This) moment is inspired Hallowed is Your name, Lord (Your) name remains the same Through the years Your picture is viewed Time has changed the frame Where are all the people? Where are those of faith? (A) snowstorm came and changed the world So) they are home and safe, home and safe copyright 2017 David Davis
