I sometimes enjoy beans on toast for breakfast. Beyond Negative Growing up I recall a lot of negativity Folks who were worried about how my life would be, They put me down, they called me a loser, Made jokes about my name and said I had no future So to all the people who offered me nothing but doubt, I have to say I'm satisfied with the way my life turned out To those who lifted me up, just to pull me down, I'm glad to have you out of my life, I'm glad that you're not around. To those who saw me only as a target I'm so glad I've moved beyond all your garbage (Life is much more than bad expectations) Growing up like I did in a blue collar town Seems like there wasn't a lot of opportunity around Couldn't get a job, unemployment was so high, Didn't have a lot of hope, just tried to get by, I know when I went to school I never could focus Because the outlook in the market seemed completely hopeless Lost my way, Oh so many times, Was kind of relieved I never turned to crime, Stayed away from drugs, not sure how, They were all around, I hung with a good crowd, Drank too much, well that's true, But everybody finds their own fix to get them through, I am so thankful for people who put me on the right track, Who when I fell down always brought me right back, Good friends, good teachers... some awesome preachers, People I could trust, who seemed like true believers, That I was more than the mistakes I often made, I'll always be grateful for the love that they displayed. With out a doubt - church was a place of salvation Opened up a wider world, beyond all my frustration, And when I fell in love with a beautiful girl, It was like opening before me was a whole new world.
