A positive, good song about America, inspired by a poem written by Barry Doyle.
Singer/Songwriter
I'm a singer/songwriter.
Story behind the song
At Barry's Café in Raleigh NC, there is a poem on the wall, written by Barry Doyle who is a huge supporter of our Firefighters, Police and our Military. It's a positive, happy message about our great country. I collaborated with Barry to come up with this song, inspired by his poem.
Lyrics
WHY WE LOVE AMERICA
J. MICHAEL TRACY & BARRY DOYLE MALE VOCAL/UPTEMPO
I love this land-that I was born in
Cause we can be what we can be
-A place where we can make our dreams-come-true
--We can speak our minds--and we’re livin’ free yeah
We try to show the world a better life
---And help them understand
These things that we have here—are ringin’ loud and clear
For every woman, child-------and every man
-We’ve got happy—and we’ve got sad
-We’ve got good—and we’ve got bad
-We’ve got rich—and we’ve got poor
-We’ve got less---but lots of more yeah
-We have hot---and we have cold
-We’ve got young---and we’ve got old
-In this land of-Red, White and Blue
-It’s why we love--America
---And we’re commin’ ta you
Everyday hero’s put their lives on the line
-Americans----through and through
---They keep us safe-in this land of the free
Away or here at home---cause this is what they do
-Thanks to them-we’ll see the stars tonight
----And we’re thankful just to be
Alive and kickin’----to face a brand-new-day
-Cause in this land of ours—that’s how it’s spose to be
