A favourite 'Merseybeat', song of mine. This is just one of the many 'covers' I've recently recorded for my Pirate Radio project...'When Pirates Ruled The Airwaves'. The album is tribute to Radio Caroline, Radio London and Radio 270.

Major Snagg is the invented name of the 'band' that perform all my own musical creations. (songs and instrumentals). I play guitars, bass, rudimentary keyboards, harmonica, and sing. Melody has always been important to me... lyrics and guitar solos have to say or communicate something. I create musical worlds that I hope that you dear listener, will also want to explore and live in for a few moments...or longer if you feel that way inclined.

Story behind the song
Always been a favourite 'Berseybeat', song of mine...and such a nice one to play. There's the catchy little 12 string riff and the great chord changes. My version is in the key of G, rather than the usual A. Well, I can't sing it in A, that's why :) The sound sample from Radio Caroline is a certain Tony Blackburn!

This is magnificent! It brings back lots of memories to a more peaceful and less chaotic time in my life. Love the vocals and harmonies a lot!!!

Wow, that gave me needles and pins-a! Remember the first time I tuned into Caroline. I think Wilson's Government had threatened it with a Navy Warship. First tune I heard played was Have I The Right by the Honeycombs. Just done a crappy instrumental cover of a Kinks number myself - we're all suffering from nostalgia.

Great sound from the 9 string mod David, and another wonderfully recreated blast from the past :)

Just in case you're curious, the '12' string guitar on this recording is now a '9' string guitar (and will probably remain so) !. Only the D, G & B strings are doubled. This is a very cool way to string up an electric '12' string guitar. It gives clarity to the low 'E' and 'A'. The high 'E' doesn't really need to be doubled. There's no problem playing with only 9 strings either. The guitar in question is my Yamaha Pacifica PAC 303/12.
