Story behind the song
The original idea for this song was concieved by a friend of mine, Rhys. It's a simple song about Bill Hyland. Bill was Rhy's close tramping (hiking) buddy, who he spent many days regularly exploring the more spectacular parts of New Zealand's countryside, most often in a north-western part of New Zealand's South Island called Golden Bay. (If you've seen the Lord Of The Rings Trilogy then you'll have an idea of what the South Island looks like). Bill was actually from a Northland rural town called Dargaville. Northland is the upper part of the North Island of NZ. This song is dedicated to old Bill who, while out walking in Golden Bay, slipped and fell over a cliff, tragically killing himself.

Where've you gone You silly boy Verse 3 Lynda rang to say that You'd lost your way You fell in the hills And now you've gone away Now each time of go walking In that Golden Bay Dargaville man is Never far away Chorus Where've you gone Billy boy? Where've you gone You silly boy Where've you gone Billy boy? Where've you gone You silly boy Verse 4 Dargaville Man Guess I'll see ya, when I can You came and you gave me A helping hand Oh Dargaville man
