The Official Backstory
This song is about suicide. This was about a very specific night, alone at home, 17, in a very "Friedrich Nietzsche"-ian "when you stare into the abyss the abyss also stares back through you" kind of stand-off with a very specific rifle. Part of the second verse was literally just reading the side of the box the bullets came in.
There is nothing deep or mysterious here, this song is very literal. There is nothing to be proud of here, but at least I lived.
