Prayer of the Common Man

I think this classifies as bluegrass.

Acoustic. Eclectic. Music.
We are the "finest acoustic duo ever to originate from the English faculty in the history of Hornell High School". Okay, only. We have been an entity for over a decade, though each of us has played for many years.

Story behind the song
This is a demo of a tune that sprang out from the mandoiln as a thanks for picking it up again after a long time away.
Lyrics
Prayer of the Common Man Midnight highway, a thousand miles from home Hard to see the right way, blinded by the snow Thoughts bound for heaven, fallen from the sky “Let me make it through this night. Let me make it through this night. Gotta feed my family, gotta do them right, Gotta ride this way alone every night. God, I miss my family. God, I miss my wife, God, guide me safely through this night.” Floating in a tin can before the break of day Whining of the engine, howling of the waves Thoughts bound for heaven, fallen from the clouds “Let us make our fathers proud. Let us make our fathers proud. Gotta feed our families, get 'em through the storms, Gotta haul this catch in, make it back to port. God, we are just sailors, humble fishermen, God, guide us safely home again.” Beaten down by heartbreak, beaten down by life, Failure after failure, time after time Thoughts bound for heaven, fallen from the sky “Let me make it through this life. Let me make it through this life. God, I want a family, gotta do them right, Gotta beat this devil with me every night. God, I beg forgiveness. God, I hate this strife, God, I swear, I'm gonna change my life.” Repeat Choruses

Great tune! Loved the mando with a bit of guitar..the minimalist production is all that is needed when you write such excellent lyrics. Good imagery..just tangible enough to grasp but abstract enough to stimulate the imagination. Loved the vox and nice harmonies. Most definitely my kinda stuff, altho I have enjoyed many of your tunes. Keep up the good work!
