Story behind the song
This song was actually written about a woman seducing a priest (very Thornbirds - and not autobiographical) -- but we prefer to think of it as a sexy, sultry song that good and bad girls can equally enjoy. :)
Lyrics
Hunger Come to me, now shut the door. Let the room consume you. Now unclothe, as shadows fall. Drop all shame behind you. Come to me. Feel my skin in scented oil and water yearning for your hands. Incense burns you a path tonight. Candles light the water -- enter consecration. Slide to warmth inside. Chant no more of sin. Sing me wordless cries. Sharp and fresh, a pained desire. Pulsing, waking hunger. Flesh and hands alight the fire, feeding into rapture. Come with me. Take my hand in yours and barefoot, take my love beneath the clouds. Here we swallow a sinless rain. Here we lie beneath a fallen paradise. We will wash away the shame. Beating time to pagan rhythms, our love cries. Hush the beating of your heart, bleeding for a garden. In the eve of stolen light, we're the lost and fallen. Pray no more on your knees for light. I baptize you in the name of wind and water. Slake your senses tonight. We are clay and flame -- there is no shame in hunger. There is no shame in hunger.
