Story behind the song
Nolan and I wrote the lyrics to this one. The music was truly a group effort. I came in with the first guitar part you hear and Bob and Dave came up with all the rest. The bass line is Bob playing bass on the keyboard. We wrote and recorded this in 1990. This is one of the few political songs I have ever been involved with. Just goes to show how little has changed in 24 years. Former World Vocals: Nolan Powell Keyboards: Bob Drury Drums: Dave Brownlee Guitar: Tommy Medlock
Lyrics
last night i had a dream we were laid up speaking lebanese bombed out of our minds and so the smoke will clear remnants of cities here bodies laying over there children cry out in fear sometimes the shed of blood is left misunderstood sometimes it takes a fight before they see the light i've seen all this before but i came back to make sure last night i wish it was a dream barbed wire strewn from tree to tree shell fire lights the sky at night nothing in this world will make it right the thought occurs to me they do their best work on their knees how can you play with snakes their venom so full of hate and so the lebanon nightmare goes on and on and on
