From the perspective of a person who is at the bottom, is calling out to God for help, and seems to be starting to figure out what happened.
acoustic guitar
I'm a folky acoustic guitar player/singer. I thought this might be a good place to make some of my music available on the web.
Story behind the song
The lyrics of this song were written by Mellissa S. as part of a program called Hope by Song (hopebysong.com) which is an outgrowth of the Americana Community Music Association of Fort Myers, FL. (americanacma.org). People who have been traumatized or are in recovery are encouraged to write their stories out and then volunteer singer/songwriters set these writings to music. They record the resulting song and a copy of the recording is given to the person who wrote the words. This has proven to be a great encouragement and a helpful part of the healing process for those who have participated. Check out the websites for more info. Maybe you can get something like this started in your own community. It's a wonderful thing.
Lyrics
Spinning in circles, my head is a mess.
How I got here is anyone's guess.
Jaded and lost, beaten and worn.
God please help me, I'm broken and torn.
Time is unstable, confused by the clock.
Heaven has fallen and hell is on lock.
I choke on my thoughts, and I pray to die.
It's hurry up and wait when you live on the fly.
I gave you control so I lost my own.
I always have you but I'm so alone.
You help me up, offer your hand.
If I'd only known you were pulling me into quicksand.
