Story behind the song
story behind the song: those ghosts of years gone past and pondering selling poppies for remembrance (intriguing justification for poppy fields) to aid our veterans lives. With at least 3 levels of bureaucracy where we pay daily to keep them and their constant takes and mistakes, maybe some of our money should actually be going to our veterans, for protecting our values. (though looking around it seems we might not have any left. values that is)
Lyrics
we're looking for heroes
to have an ordered death
nothing to messy
nothing we'll regret
someone to push a button
someone who'll go for the kill
and hopefully when its over
they'll disappear as well
used to be about something called freedom
used to be a fight to the bitter end
we're looking for leaders
not afraid to let us die
for their friends and their possessions
the ones their money buys
those few who speak with gusto
wave their hands a lot
and later shrug their shoulders
at the reasons why we fought
used to be something called honour
like the unicorn it exists
that one day we all remember,
leaving us 364 to forget
in this new world order,
each day gets so well spent
we all get what we've paid for
don't think, lest we regret
used to be about something called freedom
used to be a fight to the bitter end
but lately its more about keeping power
than worrying about the lives that we expend
