Martin Stirrup Singer/songwriter An old folkie who got back into it... These days I sing and play guitar(s) and other stringed instruments, then score and orchestrate where appropriate. My taste becomes increasingly eclectic ranging from finger-picked folk through country to soft rock mixed in with a few more alternative and eccentric numbers, including the odd novelty foxtrot...

Story behind the song
A nice simple folky song... but is it about a saint or a lady of easy virtue? Maybe both, I guess! I wrote this during an hour’s drive with Mr Kumar up through the foothills of the Himalaya to Manali, tune included (which I sang into my pocket book on arrival) but given the context I’ve no idea where the idea came from. Particularly odd as during the same trip I also wrote the very different ‘fingertips don’t lie’ that’s on German Hat trick.
