An inspiring and building Folk Rock song
Folk-Rock, Country-Rock
Steve Domer has performed live across the US for over 45 years. He has won past songwriting awards in the American Song Festival in the late 1970's.
Currently records and produces original songs and performs live periodically as an acoustic guitar and vocals solo.
Story behind the song
Collaboration with my old friend Scott Loveall for the basic lyrics.
Neverland is where you long to be. A wonderful place back with the one you love. Only an exotic place in your mind, because just being with her can be Neverland.
Lyrics
Neverland
(S. Domer & S. Loveall) 2014
I’m chasing our demon
With this bottle of Jack,
The ice is winkling in my glass
Reflecting a thousand neon blue eyes
Woh - oh Neverland
Now I’m sipping
And Elton's on the Jukebox
"The One" keeps tripping in my head
The brass is gleaming, the crowd is teaming
With button downs, cleavage, and banter that preens to be fed
Woh, Neverland
I long for Neverland
I know I can’t drown you
I know I can’t leave you
I know I can’t rinse your taste from my veins
I know I can’t own you
I know I can’t turn you down
You’ve got the power, the harness, the reins
Neverland, I long for Neverland
WOh Neverland, where I long to be
Then one day you left me
On some cold lonely prairie
The harvest moon was red in our eyes
I remember your last smile
As it slowly died out
Dying with the sun’s soft demise
Woh, Neverland
I long for Neverland
I know I can’t drown you
I know I can’t leave you
I know I can’t rinse your taste from my veins
I know I can’t own you
And I know I can’t turn you down
You’ve got the power, the harness, the reins
Neverland, I long for Neverland
Woh Neverland, where I long to be
Neverland, I long for Neverland
Woh Neverland, where I can be free
I know I can’t drown me,
I know you can’t leave me
I know you can't rinse your heart of my pain
Neverland, I long for Neverland
Woh Neverland, where I long to be
Neverland, I long for Neverland
Woh Neverland, where I can be free (repeat to fade)
