Story behind the song
I became friend, helper, and more in the Pagan community which did not sit well some members of my local Knight's of Columbus - even more so with a few of their spouse's. Ah yes, religion really messes up so many lives.
Lyrics
Intolerance Chris Stearns
There are times that I should know, Where my life might go
When to make a stand, Or reach out a helping hand.
But the answer’s not too clear, When the conflict is too near
The voices scream inside, And there’s nowhere to hide...from their fear
My whole life I believed, that our God would receive, All those with a gentle heart
But they say that you are damned, and as righteous holy man, I should turn and leave
Or save your soul from beliefs they refuse to understand
So whose wisdom is right, Why must our religions fight
I could love you as you are, and walk together beneath the stars...arm in arm
I don’t care who they say I am, I will love you all I cann
All their bigotry transcend, we will reach the promised land...now take my hand
My whole life I believed, that our God would receive
All those with a gentle heart
But they say that we are damned, and any righteous holy man
Should turn and leave
They can’t save our souls from beliefs ...they refuse to understand
There are times that I need know, Where my life should go....please take my hand
