Story behind the song
Day after a jam, had my interface and mics still set up. I think I recorded the intro acoustic guitar and vocals together at once to a click track, then added electric bass and recorded a drum take. Then I decided to jam to the same tempo on electric guitar. After that i did a quick drum take, and listened back on headphones with a vocal mic. I did a quick take through basically a guitar effect. Listened back and it was there. Moved on to the next part, which features the bass prominently, because that was what i recorded first for that section, and decided to have the melody basically there. Next the electric guit, which kinda had to be a certain way due to the bizarre scale used on bass, and then of course straight to the vocal mic track. Oh yeah, no lyrics had been written, just adlibbed. At this point, I remembered wanting to do a warm classic kind of electric retro sound, so I set up a tamer electric guitar sound, and various reverbs. Then I did the bass track, which I had left a lot of room for this time, thinking ahead. Next the drums. I wanted a dreamy ride sound, worked with what I had. Then vocals, which i wanted reverby and old skool sounding.
One take jakes here, as I was basically interested in trying out a few different sounds, to see what would happen. Hence the 3 basic parts to the song. I kinda haphazardly tried to put them together into one quick demo track, because each part doesn't have enough. Together it is still lacking, but it gave me the experience I needed for the stuff that came after.
