Story behind the song
Played on my Masterkey61 Piano - Native Instruments "The Giant" Pads - Magix/Revolta "Beauty Pad" Sax - Magix "Saxophonia" Violin - Magix "Orchestral Strings" I was looking for something minimal and powerful to play with my new piano vsti "The Giant". This great track by George S. Clinton, from the Music of Red Shoe Diaries, fit the bill nicely. George S. Clinton, (not to be confused with George Clinton from Funkadelic) is an American composer, songwriter, arranger, and session musician. Clinton was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, his musical career began in Nashville while earning degrees in music and drama at Middle Tennessee State University. After graduation, Clinton moved to Los Angeles and became a staff writer for Warner Brothers Music, while arranging and performing session work. He later recorded four albums for MCA, Elektra Records, ABC, and Arista Records. The critically acclaimed George Clinton Band attracted the attention of a movie producer, giving George the opportunity to score his first film, Cheech and Chong's Still Smokin', and later, Cheech and Chong's The Corsican Brothers. Clinton's most recognizable scores are probably Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (and all its sequels); the martial arts fantasy Mortal Kombat and its sequel Mortal Kombat: Annihilation; and Showtime's series Red Shoe Diaries. His awards include a 2002 Grammy nomination, a 2007 Emmy nomination, and eight BMI Film Music Awards.

Michael, this song, you have played so beautifully. You are truly amazing. You are so musically advanced and talented. This song brings a sweet memory back to me, of when I lived in Florida and played music at a club called Ric Ric's, in the early 1990's, wearing red high heeled shoes, sometimes black ones . It is great when someone you know, who is magnificent, finds you when you least expect it.

Incredible production Michael! Piano is one of the toughest instruments to recreate - that patch is great! Would have thought you were sitting at a Steinway & Sons!

I'm feeling more like a dinosaur everyday. This is just awesome. Anybody can buy fancy software...but learning how to use it this effectively is everything. You obviously have gotten very comfortable in both not only what it's capable of but how to use it ever so effectively. I believe virtual instruments of this quality are definitely an inspiration to you. Enjoyed the educational info on the Mr Clinton as well. Excellent post Michael.

Never thought I'd grow to like digital instruments...but the sound here is wonderful and very authentic - technology has come a long way. Superb playing and excellent production - sounds like a live performance in a concert hall.

Melancholy and dark, but shines with tones that carry the listener on a vivid journey. Real relaxing listen with my morning coffee this rainy Monday. Nice work, Michael!
