. receive all glory, honor, and praise!
Story behind the song
This song was written when I was a contributing lyricist for Star Song records. After being pitched and nearly recorded by the likes of Larnelle Harris and Sandi Patti, it was finally placed among in the annals of thousands of songs like it by thousands of other songwriters and in my dreams of what could have been.
Lyrics
"SHEKINAH" by Jeff Leslie & Tim Akers 1985
Gazing at the midnight sky I've seen a hundred thousand eyes
Glowing back they wink at me
Like pinholes in soft velvet black, blinking through from brilliance that's
Too bright at once for me to see
Falling down from heaven, piercing like a sword
Straight into my heart -- the glory of the Lord
[CHORUS]
Shekinah, when you shine, I know where I want to be
Shekinah, when you shine, I know what your glory means
Shekinah, when you shine, it's so very clear to see
Shekinah, when you shine, I know God is here with me
Silver showers racing fast from angry thunder simulcast
As lightning cracks the eastern sky
A second split but ample time to glimpse your glory there behind
Can't wait to see you eye to eye
And every time it rains I will be watching for
The light to pierce my heart -- the glory of theLord
[RPT. CHORUS]
[BRIDGE]
When northern winds bring winter snow I've seen Shekinah gently flow
Like frozen flakes of righteousness
To cover sin of scarlet red and make me white as snow instead
Oh, watch me flee the sting of death
[RPT. CHORUS TWICE]
