It's about the songs. I'm not so much a singer-songwriter as a songwriter-singer. I do not fit into a genre. The genre fits the song. They range from rock to country ditties, from standard lounge ballads to power pop, from blue-eyed r&b to country rock. I sing almost all the vocals and play almost all the music (mostly on keyboard) but, as I said, it's about the songs.

Story behind the song
My most ambitious production, a song conceived around 2006 and finally recorded in 2014.
Lyrics
The Man With the Plan I got an idea I needed to express Don't know where it came from, I must confess I put my heart in it, I gave it my soul What once was nothing is now alive and whole It's a thing of beauty, might even be a work of art Hey, how would you know, you ain't so smart All you care about is commerce, how to make a buck You gotta make your bonus, another soul to suck So you take my idea that I've born like a child You sap it of its substance but, hey, you give it style You don't care if it's a lie now just as long as it sells Sometimes I wish you'd die now, and go straight to hell 'Cause you the man with the plan Everybody knows You the man with the plan What you say goes You the man with the plan Of what is bought and what is sold Tell me what did you make Tell me what did you make What was the take How much did you make On my soul I got to eat Baby needs a new pair of shoes So I'll be damned, but I gotta sing These old art is nothing but commerce blues Now everybody's under your spell, they're numb getting numb-er We don't care about the truth anymore, we just care about the numbers And my beautiful idea is only worth what it sells Sometimes I wish you'd die now, and go straight to … 'Cause you the man with the plan Everybody knows You the man with the plan What you say goes You the man with the plan Of what is bought and what is sold Tell me what did you make Tell me what did you make What was the take How much did you make On my soul © 2013 greg carannante
