Story behind the song
We pay tribute to our soldiers during wartime,
but they are often forgotten when we are living
in the peacetime they bought for us.
Let us remember - now - and always.
Lyrics
WILL YOU REMEMBER
(The Soldier's Song)
When the Light of a New Day is dawning,
and the songbird sings in the tree;
when the morning wind is calming,
will you remember me ?
When the battlefield has grown silent;
when the souls of the dead are free;
when there comes an end to violence,
will you remember me ?
Chorus
When you hear the Voice of the Father:
when you know the Work of the Son,
and the long enduring Mother,
then the battle will be won.
We will find the Path to Home.
In the long parade of Ages,
the soldier has no ease,
as long as the battle rages,
will you remember me ?
Though now the heart feels anguish,
and the reasons are hard to see,
when terror has been vanquished,
will you remember me ?
Chorus
When you hear the Voice of the Father:
when you know the Work of the Son,
and the long enduring Mother,
then the battle will be won.
We will find the Path to Home.
