Story behind the song
The title track from the album was written three weeks before CD was completed and is probably my favourite track on the album. This song is about obtaining the unobtainable and future plans; the album was originally called White Sands but I felt the final collection of songs needed a new title so Pipe Dreams was born, due to the rename a new title track had to be written so for this one I went for a tried and tested formulae. Simple melody and solo instrumental break in middle, it was the last track to be written for the album and went through a variety of styles before finishing up as a poppy smooth jazz track featuring the Bansuri and a light poppy electric guitar, the song is also one of the only tracks that was built around lyrics:
Lyrics
“Maybe we can make it to the end of time, if we don’t let it slip away; Pipe dreams can work out just right, but baby we’ve got to hold them tight”.
