A nostalgic (and probably inaccurate) view of small-town America.
good without one politica
Artist picture
liberal ranting and raving, but sensitive explorations of the current American malaise
Good Without One was a drummerless and mercifully leaderless rock trio performing off the track and often humorous, often political originals and originally arranged covers. The players are George Potor, guitar and vocals, Joe DeCristopher, guitar and vocals, and Rick Totten, bass and vocals. These folks have played together in different contexts for decades, but only as this particular trio from 2003 - 2008. While the level of musicianship is high, their disdain for the trappings of rock stardom is legendary. Two of the members even remained seated throughout performances, despite no obvious physical impairments. Their drummerless approach was a novel but occasionally successful scam to get electric instruments into acoustic venues.

Story behind the song
A lazy day in a small American town. A nostalgic, selective view of our past is, on occasion, a necessity.
Lyrics
Shop windows, wooden signs, Spring designs, Hand-painted dolls and china Trimmed with vines. Old-fashioned coats displayed, Wide silk ties, Red awning, white brocade, Warm, wise eyes. It’s getting gauzy; it’s misting over. It’s overgrown with four-leaf clover Half-asleep or half-awake, Blissful sighs, Leisure Lake. Can we get this on tape So we can run it again? I’ll even settle for a rear-view mirror With objects not as close as they appear. I squint, I look back, I search for a time that never was, A place that never existed, I can almost see it... Lace curtains, open weave, Gently sway. Sun filters, budding leaf, Blue clay vase. Stone stairway, fresh new linen, Crystal tray. Pink petals, worn-out cotton, Flawless day.
