Story behind the song
The only reason I ever cared about being "rich and famous" was because I wanted to use my wealth to help homeless animals. I wrote this song several years ago after reading an article about animal abuse. The information was so shocking and upsetting it literally drove me to tears. The only good thing that came out of that experience was this song called "Weary Eyes".
Lyrics
WEARY EYES Suffering and scared Crying out among indifference Lonely and confused Labeled as subservient Cold and ruthless hands Inflicting pain without a second thought Close your eyes and go to sleep Dream about another day When man's compassion rises through Making this a better world for you Who are we to claim supremecy above another Number for a name Cast aside with countless others Blessed are the meek Whose only crime is that they cannot speak Close your eyes and go to sleep Dream about another day When man's compassion sets you free And gives you back your right to live in peace Close your eyes and go to sleep Leave behind the pain forever Knowing with your final sigh You'll see the world no more Through weary eyes (Dedicated with love to Shellie, my dog who passed in 2007)
