Lyrics
When I was a little girl, I read a lot of books, a lot of fairy tales. I watched a lot of movies, and I wondered if they ever came true. Now that I'm no longer a little girl, and I'd given up on books, movies and fairy tales, a Walt Disney picture came walking right into my life. Two sailors alone together, two sailors who felt right at home together, two sailors who wanted to sail through this life, together forever... Disney couldn't have written a better script, than the people of Henderson County did, When they went out to get married that sunny day in May. They say if you wanna tie the knot, you better tie it up tight so it don't come out. They say if you wanna tie the knot, you better tie it up tight so it don't come out. If you wanna be together, it better be forever, 'cause in Henderson County... The justice of the peace is John L. McPeak, and he don't tie knots loose, and he don't tie knots weak. He'd be the pride of any good sailor!!! Just when they had pretty much given up, let go of marriage and decided to live on love, and old gentleman who sat on a park bench showed them the way... He said, "Do you two kids wanna tie the knot?" When they said "Yes!" He said, "I know of just the man, who'll tie 'em so tight, you'll never be able to stray." They ran to a phone, to call on the man, who was the answer to all of their prayers, but when they couldn't find the number, the lady in the cloth store, showed them the way. She said, "Do you two kids wanna tie the knot?" when they said, "Yes!" she said, "I know of just the man, who'll tie it so tightly...you'll never be able to stray." They say if you wanna tie the knot, you better tie it up tight so it don't come out. The lovely lady, found her a vail, went round the corner and came back with much more. A bouquet of roses and a room full of flowers to wed in. When John L. McPeak finally arrived, they knew in a glance that he'd lived a long life. And that no one, in this world, could marry them any better... Surrounded by flowers, and friends new and old, and binding it all with bands made of gold, they laughed and they cried and they set sail for this world together... Now that I'm no longer a little girl, it's nice to know life still has its fairy tales... and that two people can still sail through forever together.
