Story behind the song
This was written as a straight guitar song, but then I fancied a bit of banjo on it, then some bass.... and it just kinda grew out of all proportion. If you want to hear a straight guitar/ vocal 'live' version its the last track on this CD.
Lyrics
D hammer D6 D I want you, I want you, I want you for myself C2 G It’s getting kind of lonely up here on the shelf Bm A G D G A Will I get to climb the silver lining only time will tell D hammer C G D I want you, I want you, I want you for myself Bm A G D Life’s just a runaway train careening down the track Bm A G A You can turn around, andturn again but there ain’t no turning back Bm A G D Too much wishful thinking can just put you on the rack C A But though I know I’ve nothing there’s just one thing that I lack Come take your medicine or just take to the hills Time to make your purchase now and take it to the tills Do it for propriety or do it for the thrills I’ve got the inclination, if you’ve got the will
