Story behind the song
Based on the experience of finding yourself when you get there and leaving nothing to fate. For my friend Iain who had the guts to see where the current would take him while the rest of us clung to the rocks.
Lyrics
Half a world from where we grew up, past the oceans on the way, she said: "The blue skies just seem empty now and the sun goes out in England every day." This is this, not what it’s supposed to be; the rise and fall and it all comes down to me. And when our things were in their boxes and we loaded up the van, she said: "It’s funny when you’re on the road, ‘cause the way back home seems twice as far again." I don’t have the answers and you don’t really want to know. Take me as I am, take me when you go. Against my better judgement we head out on the road again. Take me where you will, take me when you go. This is this, not what it’s supposed to be; the rise and fall and it all comes down to me.
