Story behind the song
Funny story... to be perfectly honest it was written about a girl i met on the internet... which shows what a dork i am. :P But its about the Long Distance relationship in general... will they still be there when you come back? (ARTWORK CREDIT: Celia Anne Harris)
Lyrics
Long-distance the ocean opens up, and half a world is not as wide as my love Tear my heart out and carve out a boat, sail on the tradewinds of your soul. Navigate to you through your dreams, following a star we are both watching Listening to your song along the breeze, sleepless and hungery but never suffering. Somehow my heart slipped through the reef, where heavy ships of failed sailors sleep Fell on my knees when I land on your beach, kissing the sand and searching for your feet. So I stood and ran calling your name, crossed the mountains wandered the plains And on your island only one flower remaind, so I took it to remind me of my pain. But looking back I see my empty heart, missing the pieces I chose to disregard Weathered and salted and attached by sharks, now see the damage in coming so far… and I cried out {Oh- where are you my dear? One that was supposed to meet me here {Where is the cure for my tears? Will my heart ever be healed? Long-distance the ocean opens up, and half a world is not as wide as my love But honestly I wish it was enough, to penetrate and fill your universe. Faith and frustration in all of the lies, perfect pictures never have to compromise Living within a cage behind my eyes, what do you love more: freedom or walled paradise? I should have never expected bliss, I should have never longed for your kiss I should have never needed your blessing, but I am just a man and I am broken… and I cried out {Oh- where are you my dear? One that was supposed to meet me here {Where is the cure for my tears? Will my heart ever be healed?
