Jake Conte has played in progressive rock bands, Celtic music bands and Christian music bands and worship teams. All of these are featured here.
Jake Conte began his music career in 1967 playing electric bass in The Back Porch, a high school rock band, then moving to progressive rock by joining Bayonne, NJ-based Bering Braun in early 1970. With Bering Braun, he played bass guitar, flute and saxophone. He attempted to write his own progressive rock compositions and many still remain 'works in progress.' In the mid 1970's Alison Steele (the Night Bird) a DJ playing progressive rock music on WNEW-FM in New York City, would occasionally play a Fairport Convention or Steeleye Span song (two bands that played traditional English folk songs in a progressive style into her radio program. This inspired Jake to form a band, Castle Keep, in 1981 which would play their own arrangements of the folk songs of England, Ireland, Scotland & Wales. In 2008 he became interested in Christian contemporary music and joined a local Church's worship team. He has played on a few worship teams and jammed with area Christian bands. He's attempted to form his own Christian band called For Christ's Sake. Now, he hopes to record Celtic, Christian, and his progressive rock songs.
