Story behind the song
there is actually a first section to this song, sort of, which really reminds me of what i learned of 17th or 18th century english folk music (a madrigal? if i remember correctly). this song, however is not. (an english folk song). the synth/bass/keys etc were added as an afterthought, the song was originally intended to be a solo guitar performance. its a simple shape and pattern but transposed to several different parts of the neck. i have to add, that most of the songs that i write are evolutions of theoretical/practical exercises which i write. that said, i love this song. it's quiet and polite and broken and sad, resilient and persevering, full of kindness and love, and urgency, passion and care which erupts to the surface. really powerful, i find. i hate the ending though. it was just a really quick thing i wrote just to put an ending on the song, and i don't think it does the rest of the song justice.
