Story behind the song
A member of the 50/90 from Norway was interested in a collab so I wrote this lyric to use some of the history of his homeland. Sapient snatched it up and thrashed it up. Lyrics
On the Dragon Ships We Ride
(Intro) For the horn …
(Verse) My kin sit worn and weary
The boat, she holds her own
Through the fog we row and keep our pace
Our thoughts return to home
“Pull your weight”, yells the Batsmann
We’ve miles yet to go
And the current she’s not slacken
And the evenin’ wind won’t blow
(Pre-Chorus) For months and miles, westward we sailed
Past the Greenland and the Ice
Then south along uncharted shores
Friends lost, they paid the price
(Chorus) We come to find the land of trees
We’ve 16 shields per side
Come night we’ll beach on another shore
On the dragon ships … we ride
(Bridge) And the horn will call to Treeland
And the Dragon points the way
Spirits of this foreign land
Will flee before our stay
Norse Gods clad in leather
And horns upon our domes
We’ve come to find the Treeland
We’ll claim this for our home
(Verse) Six left of nine sailed from our shores
We beached them side by side
And lit our fires and blew our horns
Mournful cries to the night
Come the sun we’ll head up river
Dragon heads will lead the way
Amazed, we are, at this land of trees
In the sky, we see them sway
(Pre-Chorus) For months and miles, westward we sailed
Past the Greenland and the Ice
Then south along uncharted shores
Friends lost, they paid the price
(Chorus) We come to search this land of trees
We’ve 16 shields per side
Come night we’ll beach on another shore
On the dragon ships … we ride
(Outro) For the horn that called to the native
And the men we’ve left behind
We’ve left their ghosts in Treeland
Men of the dragon …
And on the ships we ride …
