Sometimes children don't realize what parents do--then again sometimes they do
Hello,
I am basically a songwriter. I always co-write songs. The completed songs I have are projects done with my other co-writes and musical collaborators. While I do play drums, I do not play in a band because of my work schedule. I hope you will find a song or two that you can relate with and enjoy.
Story behind the song
Full life song about a father son relationsip

Exactly What I Do

Verse 1
Got lost in the woods down by Crandall's Creek
At only 8 years old I was really scared.
Behind every tree shadows waited for me
When I heard a voice I knew say, Son I’m over here.
Lift
With tears in my eyes I didn’t know what to say;
Then he said let me tell you ‘bout days like today.
CHORUS
Some days go bad with one foot out of bed,
You run too fast, duck too slow, and really bump your head.
Sometimes you lose your way,
But it works out okay.
You just need someone who’ll help to pull you through;
Son, I’m your dad, that’s exactly what I do.
Verse 2
I turned 17 thinking I was quite the man,
No one could tell me anything, I knew it all.
One night my way of thinking got way out of hand
And found me face to face against the law.
Lift
At 3 in the morning my dad paid my bail;
I wondered why he didn’t just leave me in jail.
He said…
CHORUS
Some days go bad with one foot out of bed,
You run too fast, duck too slow, and really bump your head.
Sometimes you lose your way,
But it works out okay.
You just need someone who’ll help to pull you through;
Son, I’m your dad, that’s exactly what I do.
Bridge
Got off the phone with the doctor, only one thing to do;
Dad's kidney was failing, thank God I’ve got two.
As we lay side by side I told him
Something he already knew…
CHORUS
Some days go bad with one foot out of bed,
You run too fast, duck too slow, and really bump your head.
Sometimes you lose your way,
But it works out okay.
You just need someone who’ll help to pull you through;
Dad, I’m your son, (pause)
that’s exactly what I do.
