The Rose of Sunrise
I was wrestling with a demon
On a bed of cold regret
Full of dread and dreamin
Of my vices and my debts
Id made crazy choices in the dark
Id heard hazy voices in my heart
Morning seemed like it was dead to me
Then a silent echo said to me
Lay the rose of sunrise over yesterdays remains
Bury doubt in light thats dancing through the windowpane
When youre circled by the shadows of remorse or wrath
Let the rose of sunrise bloom along your rocky path
I could feel the darkness threaten
To remove the rising dawn
I was swearin, I was sweatin
As if hope and breath were gone
Then my thoughts hung quiet in the air
As if hell might overhear my prayer
Yet what haunts the helpless flees the light
In the instant that it sees the light
So lay the rose of sunrise over yesterdays remains
Bury doubt in light thats dancing through the windowpane
When youre circled by the shadows of remorse or wrath
Let the rose of sunrise bloom along your rocky path
Ive seen blessings in disguise
Lucifer with counterfeit light
Sometimes it requires tearful eyes
To distinguish whats wrong from right
And lay the rose of sunrise over yesterdays remains
Bury doubt in light thats dancing through the windowpane
When youre circled by the shadows of remorse or wrath
Let the rose of sunrise bloom along your rocky path
