Just me. Just songs.
I was born with an undiagnosable brain dysfunction, having seizures, and with blue skin dur to oxygen deprivation. I would spend much of my youth on strong, mind-altering medication, I would ultimately end up being declared fully disabled on psychiatric grounds, and I've had to be committed to five different psychiatric facilities in three different states. These days, the primary thrust of my overall creative efforts is the advocacy work that I seek to do for the mentally ill and the mentally disabled. These are my songs.

Story behind the song
I wrote the lyric behind this song in May of 2008 and Steve Cupo (Atlanta, Georgia) quickly picked it up for production and had the first demo ready within a week. We decided to make two versions of the song - a "bridge" version and a more extended version with three complete verses. Of the two, the bridge version is my own personal favorite and it is the one that I've posted here on our Back Country Connection site. Ray Bertram
Lyrics
It's Time For Me To Go Verse 1: I can't help but love my days An' be happy with my life Content with all my kids So in love with my wife But the signs are getting clear And the writing's on the wall God's prepared a place for me And now I hear Him call Chorus: I've done all I can do And I've seen all I can see I've lived more than most Now the time has come for me I know I've made my mark I've watched my children grow I've done my best Now it's time for me to go Verse 2: Don't shed no tears for me I don't want to see you fret I didn't always do so well But I ain't got no regret I know that you'll do fine And I know that you'll be strong Just do the best you can Think of me and carry on Chorus: I've done all I can do And I've seen all I can see I've lived more than most Now the time has come for me I know I've made my mark I've watched my children grow I've done my best Now it's time for me to go Bridge: I know that you'll be sad But it'll pass in a while And maybe when it does You can think of me and smile Chorus: I've done all I can do And I've seen all I can see I've lived more than most Now the time has come for me I know I've made my mark I've watched my children grow I've done my best Now it's time for me to go "It's Time For Me To Go" (c) 2008 W.
