Just me. Just songs.
I was born with an undiagnosable brain dysfunction, having seizures, and with blue skin dur to oxygen deprivation. I would spend much of my youth on strong, mind-altering medication, I would ultimately end up being declared fully disabled on psychiatric grounds, and I've had to be committed to five different psychiatric facilities in three different states. These days, the primary thrust of my overall creative efforts is the advocacy work that I seek to do for the mentally ill and the mentally disabled. These are my songs.

Story behind the song
Hey Everybody - this is Martin Gotz (Austria). The birth of this song took place in December (2009). Snow was falling and it was extremely cold outside…so I worked on a song called “Summer Sun” by way of coping with it all - I hate snow lol. I wrote words and music for it, recorded it as a pop song and tossed the song over to my friends Robert Baitinger (Germany) and Ray Bertram (Arkansas, U.S.A.) for feedback. The answers from the guys were similar: “good song but it needs a bit of work”. So, first Ray offered to work on the lyrics, to lift them up and suggested to re-record the song in a Country style with Caribbean elements. Next step was to ask Robert Baitinger to join us and give me a hand on the production side. The final step was to bring Vince Denimarck (Florida, U.S.A.) into the team to sing the lead vocals…and a new song was born! As usual, I enjoyed working with these three guys, but especially with Robert. Robert produced the vocals and did sooo many good things with the instrumental track…he always has a helping suggestion. It was on honor to work with you guys!
Lyrics
A Mid-Winter's Dream Verse 1: Come winter when the weather gets cold And the ground gets all white with snow I dream of a tropical sun Some laid back summer fun On a warm beach at the edge of the sea Lying in the shade of a coco-nut-tree A blanket on the sand An ice-cold beer in my hand Chorus: A mid-winter’s dream Of a tropical Hawaian scene A place where it never gets cold At least that’s what I’m told Far away from any snow or ice An island paradise Always so warm and green this is A mid-winter’s dream Verse 2: I see her standing in the sand An island girl so dark and tan She smiles in the prettiest way And hands me a flower lei Her eyes sparkle as I take her hand We start dancing to a steel drum band I find a shell for her by the sea She shares a kiss with me Chorus: A mid-winter’s dream Of a tropical Hawaian scene A place where it never gets cold At least that’s what I’m told Far away from any snow or ice An island paradise Always so warm and green this is A mid-winter’s dream Bridge: The wind blows and blows I’m tired of all this snow But when I close my eyes I see My island girl’s waiting for me Chorus: A mid-winter’s dream Of a tropical Hawaian scene A place where it never gets cold At least that’s what I’m told Far away from any snow or ice An island paradise Always so warm and green this is A mid-winter’s dream A Mid-Winter’s Dream (c) 2010 Martin Gotz, Ray Bertram, Vince Denimarck, Robert Baitinger
