Lyrics
JEREMY THE RANGER
He said “I’m Jeremy the Ranger, but just call me Curly Red.
Now when I see an outlaw, well you know I shoot him dead.
I ain’t roundin up no dogies, just the rustlers don’t you see,
cause I’m a Texas Ranger, and my name is Jeremy.”
I was walking down the street in that little Texas town,
not a dollar to my name, I was really feelin down.
I kept thinkin ‘bout my dreams, how they never would come true.
Just a broken hearted fool, getting old at thirty-two.
As I walked along the street and looked at houses on the way,
I saw this little cowboy in his yard so hard at play.
He had leather chaps and boots on with his six-guns at his side,
a cowboy hat and a stick horse for a pony he could ride.
Then he rode off on his pony, chasin rustlers with his gun.
I guessed he wasn’t more than three, but he was havin fun.
And as I watched him play there, well I wandered back in time,
to the truth that, as a child, there’s no mountain you can’t climb.
Then and there I made my mind up, I would straighten out my life.
Now I have a family, a home and pretty wife.
But sometimes I remember back unto that fateful day
I saw that little cowboy and the words he had to say.
He said “I’m Jeremy the Ranger, but just call me Curly Red.
Now when I see an outlaw, well you know I shoot him dead.
I ain’t roundin up no dogies, just the rustlers don’t you see,
cause I’m a Texas Ranger, and my name is Jeremy!”
